Refurbishment Project
A standard Fairey Huntsman 28ft Twin Screw diesel powerboat is a
lengthened Ray Hunt design Fairey Huntress 23ft (the single screw
version). Fairey Marine of Hamble built just over 100 Huntsman 28's in
the 1960's and the last around 1970. Hull number 110 is therefore towards the end of production.
'Maidfast' was a special built by Charles Currey with dedicated owner and had many improvements such as longitudinal strengthening and all gunmetal fastenings. She raced under the number 505, also stored inside, unused, for many years.
Originally fitted with twin Perkins T6.354 diesel engines and later a pair of Sabre Ford engines. She is now offered without engines as a hull and has teak laid decks and cockpit coverings. Stern gear and steering system installed.
She is very original and sold as seen, half way through refurbishment, cabin is all stripped out and very much a total rebuild project.
Lying: Solent ashore
